The 2/942 Switch Amplifier transfers binary signals from the hazardous location to the non-hazardous side. A closed switch on the hazadous side operates a relay on the non-hazadous side. These signals are electrically isolated so that grounding is not required. The 2/942 can be operated with all the most commonly used switching elements :
