TNT UK Express Courier lost PSA Citroen Hydraulic Brake Accumulators made for Bentley Motors Crewe - NOW SOLD

The following information has been supplied to us by a private client and we have verified it:

"Bentley Motor Ltd based in Crewe, Cheshire UK ordered the parts GMF1274 hydraulic brake accumulators from Citroen in France.

Bentley arranged collection of the parts by appointing their own courier TNT to collect the parts from Citroen and deliver them to Bentley.

TNT lost the parts during transit. Bentley delayed payment to Citroen claiming that Citroen was liable for the loss. Clearly, Citroen were not liable as Bentley had arranged collection. It turns out that Bentley had not even thought of submitting a claim against TNT!

Here is a summary of event:

27/06. We acquired the parts from TNT lost in transit disposal route.
15/11. We sent one of the parts to Citroen in France
26/11. Marie-Anne from Citroen contacted us and CCed Kate Moody of Bentley
06/12. Marie-Anne, Kate and ourselves believed that these were the parts collected by TNT from Citroen for delivery to Bentley but were lost in transit
09/12. Kate expressed that Bentley urgently required these parts and that they had not submitted a claim with TNT.
16/12. Kate CCed Richard Lawrie, Patrick Hughes and Joanne Wilkinson stating that Bentley will be claiming legal ownership of parts GMF1274
25/01. Patrick e-mailed us to say that matter would be discussed with TNT and that further contact would be arranged.
29/01. Justine Pridding claimed legal title of parts with Bentley and that any disposal would be unlawful and that injunctive relief would be sought if done so.
30/01. Following our e-mail disputing legal ownership stating that TNT had disposed of the parts already, Justine requested detailed list of parts.
06/02. Justine maintained legal title to claim of the parts and wished to discuss position with our solicitors rather than ourselves direct whilst all the time we knew that they had not even paid their supplier for the parts and not submitted a claim for loss with TNT.

Bentley asked us not to dispose of the parts and we obliged keeping them in storage. They also maintained legal ownership. Unfortunately, when circumstances or their claims changed, they did not contact us. So, they just made empty claims and requests which we obliged and did not care to update us or keep any dialogue.

We didn't care what Bentley had to say as they were blatantly incompent in the matter. We sold parts onto a major third party distributor who specialises in Bentley parts. We never heard from Bentley again!

We were never contacted by TNT in connection with this matter."
