TNT Express Lost Parcels

TNT Express UK Courier Lost Package Parcel for sale at public auction.

The following have been acquired from an auction where TNT Express UK have disposed of goods from their lost property department.

You would think that they would contact their customer if they found some lost goods.

The Sony Ipela demonstration stand for example had documentation with it including a speech and full packing list stating where the goods supposed to have been sent from and to. All TNT had to do was just look at the bloody item, it had contact details for Sony on it.

Also, the problem with auction houses is knowing that if TNT lost your parcel, it could end up in the public domain and it may include sensitive information too.

Don't forget, you have to allow for human error from TNT and the auctioneers too. We can prove that they have many flaws.

An auction house is simply their to take its cut. They do however take care to ensure that clues are not left as to who their client is by removing existing labels or tape off the packaging.

We closely monitor all auction houses within the UK and Rest of Europe and online too!

In the past, we are aware that TNT Express has a department for goods lost in transit based at their Atherstone depot. Internally, they refer to this department as "ID Stores". The last known telephone number is 01827 711 711

When TNT lost your item, it is best not to settle a claim for a small amount as by doing this you pass on legal title of your goods. So, if for example, you sent something worth £300 in the post and did not opt for extra insurance, you might only be entitled to £50 compensation. If you did not accept compensation and your item ended up on eBay, you would still be the legal owner of the goods.

The Ceodeux valves lost by TNT were a consignment of several boxes. We simply contacted the manufacturer Ceodeux and they immediately started claiming ownership. Unfortunately, they had already settled a claim with TNT and were therefore disgruntled that we had the goods and there was nothing they could do about.

Bentley Motors on the other had in our opinion were a bit cocky! They failed to realise that it was their duty to pursue a claim against TNT and not their supplier - PSA Citroen. This was because, Bentley had instructed TNT to collect the goods. Because PSA had not arranged delivery, it was not their responsibility. Up until our client intervened, Bentley had been placing liability on PSA which is baffling in something that is very straight-forward. Once Bentley realised that we had the GMF1274 accumulators, they started claiming ownership disrupting the sale of the products, when we genuinely seeked clarification before we sold them on. They came across a bit pathetic really - all their posturing led to nothing.

The PSA Citroen / Alps Ireland incident. Again, these AC modules were discovered at auction. Unknown to our client at the time, these modules were faulty and were lost by TNT on their way back from the VIgo plant in Spain back to Alps in Ireland. Our client discovered, the Alps Ireland labelling on the box and contacted Alps who immediately claimed ownership and demanded the return of the modules. Our client did not know they were faulty and if it wasn't for his due diligence, these modules would have been sold in bulk and flooded the market. Let just say that TNT took ultimate responsibility for this!

The Avitec TETRA repeater. Its quite interesting when you come across a wide variety of products. When our client research this one, he noticed that a lot people were opposed to the use of this equipment for health reasons. Anyway, this was lost in transit by TNT on its way back to Avitec (now Axell Wireless) from Thales Communications. We believe Thales were smart in the end as they changed their mind from pursing their claim for legal ownership and instead possibility reaching a favourable settlement with TNT. Why, because this equipment was faulty, going back for repair and cost of new equipment was just over £7000 at the time. Whether TNT were aware of this or not, we don't know.

Thales Underwater Systems supplied parts to BAE Systems for Astute Class attack submarine - brilliant! This was a funniest thing our client ever came across. Fancy seeing a box labelled "Captains Keys" and "Battle Override Keys"... WTF you have to ask. Our client says when he visited the auction, spotted the Thales Underwater Systems name on the box. Within 5 minutes he was on the phone to Thales and thought great - I'll have these. TNT's lost property department and the auctioneer got to be a bit 'thick' to let this slip through the net. Just look the photos. The same day our client was on the phone with the stores person at BAE systems who was missing these parts. Unfortunately, because he had signed for consignment and not meticlously checked it, he signed for something that he infact had not received. Whereas, up until we contacted him and Thales, Thales considered the goods to have been delivered.
